Coming Home to Kansas

8.27.2006

Are you ready to decide?

Ok, so since no one else is saying it I will . I think we need to decide (maybe not right this minute) if and when we are going to have our "reunion". Obviously we aren't all going to be able to be there at one time with us a bit spread out. Maybe if we get the details figured out or in the works at least we can make it happen when a lot of us can be there. Thinking about things I think that the "we shoulds", "we'll have tos" can slip right on into nevers. Nevers don't get anyone anywhere.

Obviously it won't be old settlers day.

Christmasish? I think that was mentioned. Let's really decide.

Amen. Christmasish seems a good bet. Could we start by determining before or after the holiday itself? I see that Xmas falls on a Monday this year.....

Christmas sounds good. I'm pretty sure this is our year in Kansas, and besides, I'll have a pretty long break from school, so I could probably get there either way.

Provided we don't have any extra relatives staying during the time of our reunion, I'd like to have it at our house. My parents finally have a large home, and probably most of you haven't seen it since it's been finished (too bad it will be cold--they have a dreamy screened-in porch off the family room that is absolute heaven in nice weather).

Things will work out better for me at that time of year than OSD, obviously. Mine may have to be a day trip, which I can easily manage if the thing is near Marion. I'm up for it. The only thing is we'll most likely be gone to St. Louis to visit the in-laws over some part of the break, and I have no idea when that will be. Other than that I'm in.

Honestly, Ellie, every time I think of us all reuniting, I picture it at your parents' house (even though I have an old picture of it in my mind!) I think it's because I remember a lot of us hanging out at your house most of the time, and espectially one year on Winter Solstice ... actually, it was just a week before Topher and I got married. I think I even have the invite you made up tucked somewhere in a scrapbook, along with the campout stuff

And possible dates: I suggest either the Friday the 22 or Sat the 23. I know some of us will have family stuff come up, but I hope we can work around it.

I think either of those will work for me.
