Ren Fests
So I've decided I will never attend another Ren fest without people who appreciate it(see my blog and you'll understand why). SO my lovelies, as of today, we are going to start a new tradition.
Once a year we will all get together in Bonner Springs, rent hotel rooms and spend the weekend at the renaissance Festival. Dressed up. No excuses, no I'm too busy.
And as of now I'm setting the date. We will get together the 5th of October, stay in a hotel that night and go the ren fest all day Saturday. Stay over the 6th, eat breakfast together in the morning and head home that Sunday afternoon.
Write on your calendars now. Start planning your costumes. No excuses. Besides, who else can I get bawdy and medieval with?

I'm so there!
I'll just wear a puke and snot tshirt. Whew that costume took so much time to plan
The crazy thing is, you can ride with me, we pick up LeAnn in Emporia, Garrett in Lawrence, Catie in Eudora -or she meets us in lawrence w/Garrett. Gretchen could meet us at her parents if she can get back here and we pick her up there. Then we get ourselves to Bonner Springs. Now my van is full.
Since Ellie, Hannah and Lesley are in Illinois, they could road trip south, we'd road trip north and have a blast! See, all planned. Except for Mark. Haven't figured that one out yet.
Warning: Ren Fest reminiscing. I do it every fall when the trees start to turn b/c the wooded area near Bonner Springs is so beautiful. And, I'm so braindead this afternoon and need some good memories to rejuvenate my mind.
I'm thinking that the last time I went to the festival was in the late late 90s or in 2000 -- don't remember the year, but I do remember that we went with LeAnn and Jason. We bought these pretty blown glass ornaments to mark our time their together... aw! Do you remember that, LeAnn?
Of course, one of the best trips was in college and I came back to go with you all on the bus. :) It rained that day, though, and my kick ass red poet shirt (um, ok, it was cool then) got stained black from my coat.
And unfortunately, I remember that when Janet and I went as sponsors for the school trip one year, I recommended that she try the cinnamon roasted almonds. She chipped a tooth on one and I felt horrible!!! A lesson that we should all stick with the turkey legs and King's Ices, I guess.
I also remember one of my favorite trips was going in '95 ( with Mariah, Catie, and LeAnn. M and C drove to Emporia and stayed in my dorm room, I think.... Lots of good memories from that trip.
In short, we need to create some new days of fun together, and I can't imagine a better place to meet up for more reunions than the Renfest.
I really think the whole of my adult life has been the pursuit of more king's ices. They are my favorite things in the WORLD. I'm not sure I'd get into the costume and playacting aspect of the Ren fest quite as much as I did in high school, but the food! Oh god, the food. It would be worth it to me to go back just for that.
I totally am into this. And yes, Lesley, I remember that trip because it was my last RenFest trip and I have the ornament in my kitchen window. *sniff*
I cannot abide morons at the Renaissance Festival so we should definitely do trips together in the future. That sounds like mom's day off to me!!
And yes...it would be worth it just for the food.
